Experience

2014 to Present: Works as an independent gemologist/jewelry appraiser and personal property appraiser by appointment only.

1995 – 2014: Owned and operated an antique store, buying and selling antiques, decorative arts and jewelry on a daily basis. Exhibited at upscale antique shows nationwide. Conducted estate sales throughout the greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas. Worked as staff gemologist in a Royal Street, New Orleans jewelry store. Worked as an independent appraiser, performing jewelry and personal property appraisals locally and nationwide.

1991: Founded Kohlert Appraisal Services, LLC

1983 – 1995: Sales person and inventory specialist in New Orleans antique shops, jewelry stores and art galleries. Began conducting independent appraisals in 1991.

Sherry Kohlert is qualified to appraise jewelry, silver, antiques and general household contents.

The required 7-Hour USPAP course for jewelry and personal property appraisers is completed every two years.

Appraisals written by Sherry Kohlert are accepted by the IRS.
