Sherry Kohlert moved to New Orleans in 1979. While writing her Master of Arts Thesis in English and Art History in 1983,
she accepted a position as an assistant to a nationally known Royal Street antiques and art dealer. Royal Street is one of
the premiere antique shopping districts worldwide. Ms. Kohlert worked on Royal Street for twelve years learning all aspects
of the antiques and fine art trade.
In 1991, she returned to the classroom and passed three examinations in Valuation Science offered by the International
Society of Appraisers. She then opened a part time appraisal practice. In 1995, she left Royal Street to open a full time
appraisal practice and, Kohlert-Winters Antiques, a fine store specializing in European Antiques, located in Old Metairie,
Louisiana. Ms. Kohlert also has passed the examinations offered by the Certified Appraisers Guild of America and in 2001;
she was accepted into the prestigious Appraisers Association of America, located in New York City.
Ms. Kohlert has written hundreds of appraisal reports. She is dedicated to providing each of her clients with a detailed,
accurate appraisal of their personal property. Each appraisal report prepared by Sherry Kohlert conforms to the Uniform
Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, (USPAP).
Ms. Kohlert’s many years of experience enables her to assist her clients wishing to sell their personal property. Ms. Kohlert
works individually with each of her clients to help them decide which markets are most appropriate for selling the type of
property they have. Those markets may include on site estate sales, reputable auction house or consignment situations in
appropriate retail venues. Ms. Kohlert has daily hands on experience with buying and selling all types of antiques and art.

The Only Acceptable Appraisal Report is a Correctly Prepared Appraisal Report
The most qualified professional personal property appraisers belong to reputable appraiser organizations that subject their
members to strict codes of ethics and conduct. In addition to expert knowledge of items they appraise, a qualified appraiser
must also be able to write an appraisal that will stand up in any court of law, should the need arise. Sherry Kohlert, CAGA
is a member of the Appraisers Association of America and the Certified Appraisers Guild of America. Both are nationally
recognized professional organizations which self regulate their members. All appraisals prepared by Sherry Kohlert conform
to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
